To be absolutely fair, the rule is actually really useful. If info got out that he restarts, the usefulness of his power gets completely destroyed because his enemies are just gonna have to not kill him so that their victory is gonna be assured
"Fun" fact: Rem's torture was originally way worse in the Light Novel. Rem tortured Subaru for hours, and would heal him so that she could torture him far longer.

When I first watched the anime, it was this episode that made me realize how special ReZero was. Loved feeling the emotions welling up inside me again as you guys reacted to it.
And great engaging discussion as always! You bounce off each other so well and bring many angles that I didn't have when I watched the show. I've never anticipated the week-to-week reactions of a reaction channel before, and I deeply anticipate yours, so this really is a special ground I've not tread before. About the rule of not telling anyone, you can kinda piece it together from Subaru's interactions with Beatrice, so try to focus on every word and reaction from them inside the library, it already happened but will be more evident in the next few episodes. On a side note, this will be never mentioned in the main story but Subaru couldn't write or make signs about Return by Death even if he was with someone overpowered like Reinhard.
To join the crowd of non upset viewers, sometimes stunned silence as a reaction says more than words, plus we have the analysis afterwards for those.
Speaking of "if an evil person had this power", there are 'what if' scenarios where Subaru... doesn't keep it together mentally as well as he does in the story. They are written by the author of the story, and they are all really good (yes there are multiple, not all of them are Subaru's villain arc).
