Hey everyone, I hope this finds you safe and healthy. I’m sure you’re doing the best you can in these very trying times. As you may know we (🤍TheMavericks) have been filming videos, promo material, content, etc...to coincide with the release of our new album cleverly titled “En Español”. Sometimes while shooting material for the new record, more often than not someone will start a different song and before you knew it we’re recording something we’ve never played before. That’s what happened with “Here Comes The Sun”. We were recording one of the Spanish songs when EP started with the opening lick… Sure we got distracted for a little while…but we ended up with “Here Comes the Sun”! ☀️ For this Quarantunes, it was basically the same situation. We were under the gun to record some promotional material when I started singing this next song. It wasn’t long before this video happened. I know this song has become something else throughout the years. Great songs often do. At its core, it is still a beautiful song. And as we navigate our way through this pandemic, the words take on a relevance that not even the author could foresee. In this case, the author happens to be the one and only 🤍NeilDiamondOfficial. I personally have known Neil since the late 90’s when he came to Nashville to record his Tennessee Moon album. He’s been on my mind lately, and I started playing the song that afternoon. It also happens to be my little sister’s name, and I used to sing it to her when we were kids. Here I am with the Mavericks, singing our Quarantunes version of “Sweet Caroline”…RM 💛 THE MAVERICKS⚡️‘EN ESPAÑOL’ 🌵AVAILABLE 8.21.20 Stream & Pre-Order 'En Español' ➡️ 🤍 Stream & Pre-Order (Europe) ➡️ 🤍 Official Store ➡️ 🤍 Spotify ➡️ 🤍 iTunes ➡️ 🤍 Apple Music ➡️ 🤍 Amazon ➡️ 🤍 Pandora ➡️ 🤍 Deezer ➡️ 🤍 Record Store Day (US) ➡️ 🤍 Follow The Mavericks: Website ➡️ 🤍 Merch ➡️ 🤍 Instagram ➡️ 🤍 Facebook ➡️ 🤍 Twitter ➡️ 🤍 Spotify ➡️ 🤍 #Quarantunes #SweetCaroline #NeilDiamond #TheMavericks #EnEspanol #MAVS30 #MonoMundoRecordings
Felix Contreras | December 12, 2022 When The Mavericks brought their long-running tour to the Tiny Desk, we could hear a well-oiled musical machine that has charmed audiences long enough to earn the band a lifetime achievement award from the Americana Music Association. From the opening strains of "Back In Your Arms Again," we are treated to one of the best voices in the U.S. — that of Raul Malo. Backed by a smooth shuffle, Malo's voice is propelled by the subtle horn blasts that suggest a Tex-Mex border feel, driven home by the accordion. "Mujer" is a track from the band's 2020 album, its first album of all-Spanish material, which features the band's personality shifting from Americana shuffles to Mexican wedding boleros. "Come Unto Me" is a Mavericks chestnut and gives a glimpse into why the band is such a crowd favorite. The song filters that bolero feel of the previous song into a slow burner with a shouted chorus at the end that usually has the crowd on its feet and singing along. The Mavericks are one of the best live shows out on the road these days and masters at bringing new fans into their fold. This performance gives us all a good idea of how the band weaves that magic. Our mayor in Nashville has issued a “stay at home” order which most people are adhering to I’m hoping. This video was shot a few days ago, just as that order was being issued. In this one the beautiful and talented Lisset Díaz from 🤍SweetLizzyProject came over to sing harmonies with me. One of the hardest hit countries by this virus has been Italy. We wanted to send a little love to all our Italian friends all over the world with this one. You may notice that we maintained our “social distancing”. Which led to her somewhat abrupt but adorable entrance, which made me laugh...Che Dio vi benedica tutti! 🇮🇹 RM 🎹 Follow The Mavericks for more Quarantunes & 30th Tour updates: Instagram ➡️ 🤍 Facebook ➡️ 🤍 Twitter ➡️ 🤍 Spotify ➡️ 🤍 Website ➡️ 🤍 Merch ➡️ 🤍 #Quarantunes #Mellotron #TheMavericks #MAVS30 #SantaLucia #MonoMundoRecordings

The hardest thing about working with other artists is trying to coordinate their busy schedules. As difficult a year as our industry has had due to the pandemic, one thing that’s been afforded to artists is time. Loads of it. Jamey and I have been wanting to do something in the studio since we hung out about ten years ago at the Key West Songwriters Festival. I always knew he was a great writer. But to me he’s equally as impressive as a singer. I remember in Key West a late night or two where guitars were passed around and songs were sung into the wee hours. (Honestly it’s a little hard to remember through the fog of tequila, weed, rum, beer, sun, sand, and ocean...) I’ve heard plenty of people throughout the years recount these nights. I’m pretty sure they happened. For Quarantunes #32, we wanted the focus to be on the vocals. My son Dino helped me create, arrange and record this track. Sometimes It’s a family affair here at Mono Mundo Recordings. Happy Friday, everyone. Although our shows in Harrisburg and Warren this weekend were rescheduled, we still wanted to leave you with a little bit of live magic. ✨ This show in Paso Robles was one of the most special we’ve done all year. With over 3000 in the house, we were rockin’ and locked in with your energy all night long!⚡️This song is one of our very favorites from the Spanish record, and we’ve loved playing it for you out on the road. Hey everybody, hope you’re all staying safe and keeping healthy. Another Saturday night at home. I know we all wish we were somewhere else...doing anything. In the end we need to be grateful we are home and we are healthy. The only thing we are sick of in my house is each other. Of course we are. How can we not be? My family has never spent this much time with me in one stretch! Ever! (Remember I’m coming off of four months at home after my surgery in November) And then the pandemic! My family was already tired of me before Christmas! Luckily we still find ways to laugh and entertain ourselves. Fortunately there are a few musicians among us and we can entertain the “court” whenever it pleases. For Quarantunes #21 we recorded this arrangement of Simon and Garfunkel’s Sound of Silence. The inspiration for this were those first heart stopping images of all the beautiful cities from around the world...streets empty, lonely boulevards, and rolled up sidewalks. No one praying in cathedrals to their Gods. No one enjoying a day in the park, or a table with a view...nothing. For this recording and video I employed part of my “stay at home band” of Hector Tellez Jr on bass and Dino Malo on drums. We’re always jamming and recording and sometimes others in the house join us. (I’m not putting anyone on the spot). I’m just saying that others may be featured in future recordings. We’ll record more, learn a few songs, sing a little, play a little. Whatever it takes to get us through. Tonight I’ll be talking to my buddy 🤍BigKennyTV at 7:00 PM Central on his Peace Love & Happy Hour Facebook Live on 🤍BigandRichofficial. Kenny and I go way back. He’s one of my favorite people in this business and I look forward to catching up with him. Everyone stay healthy. Stay safe. Stay home. Take care of yourselves and each other…RM 🎸 Tune In 📺 Peace Love & Happy Hour 🥃 7PM CST Live on 🤍BigandRichofficial! #Quarantunes #SimonAndGarfunkel #TheSoundOfSilence #TheMavericks #RaulMalo #MAVS30 #MonoMundoRecordings
