Bardeux began as a synth-pop duo, masterminded by Jon St. James of SSQ and Stacey Q fame. The duo originally consisted of Stacy "Acacia" Smith and Tairrie B, and they released the Hi-NRG single Three Time Lover. Tairrie left the group after a bitter falling out (she later became a gangsta rapper and dissed the group in the song Ruthless Bitch, and later still fronted the metal bands Tura Satana and My Ruin). She was replaced by Lisa "Jaz" Teaney. The duo released the Hi -NRG/synth-pop album Bold As Love and had a top 40 hit with When We Kiss. For the next album, Jaz was replaced with soul singer Melanie Taylor, and their sound changed to house and dance-pop. They had a dance hit with I Love To Bass. The group apparantly disbanded after the album, though the new song Be My Man was featured on a Thump Records compilation some years later.
